Tarragona, the ancient Tarraco, was the first Roman city outside Italy. The trace of the classical civilisation is perceptible in its walls, towers, forums, circus and amphitheatre, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Today, however, above all, Tarragona is its human heritage, the culture and festivals, as worthy of recognition as the stones.
